Since its inception, ArtWalk has grown in the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (Council) local government area as a major art event that highlights the talent of local artists, performers and musicians. Following the impact that COVID19 has had on industries and business, and public gathering restrictions, the event for 2020 was delivered differently, in the form of a Longest Footpath Art Gallery, to ensure that COVIDsafe behaviors could be undertaken by participants and attendees alike, whilst allowing businesses and creatives to recover from the devastating effects COVD19 had.
As ArtWalk 2020 was going to be spread over 3 CBD locations (Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope), I wanted the visual identity to reflect this. Each suite featured a different colour and illustration that draws on themes and features that the town is well known for, tied together by the same use of monocolour illustrative style, and the same layout to each piece of collateral.
Each location suite contains footpath decals, 2 posters and an illustration that can be linked with a 3rd party augmented reality app to bring the illustration to life.
The project was complemented by a fourth suite that is entirely dedicated to encouraging and directing COVIDsafe behaviours for attendees.
